About 99% of the articles on TLab404 require you to modify the registry and other important parts of the Windows Operating System. These are crucial to the running of Windows and if damaged or misconfigured, could cause severe problems.

Follow our instructions over the next few screen to "BackUP" all important data, using the Microsoft recommended way.

NOTE : This backup file will be on average 350Mb. It is recommended that you keep on removal media, e.g. CD, otherwise another HD partition.

Step 1 : Running Backup

Firstly you will need to start the backup program contained within Windows XP.

Click "Start" -> "All Programs" -> "Accessories" -> "System Tools" -> "Backup"

NOTE : This option is not installed in Windows XP Home Edition. To install you will need the XP Home CDRom. Navigate to %CDROM%\VALUEADD\MSFT\NTBACKUP\. Look for Ntbackup.msi and double-click it to execute the install wizard.
